Hello. I want to say that I always try to describe the items as best as I can. I do not claim to be an expert on the majority of the items I sell. There are two globes (matching set of two) in this listing.
These were purchased at the estate of a late Pharmacist and Drug Store owner. Not only were these hanging in that drug store for years while he owned it, but HIS father before him had this set in the drug store as well.
Everything looks original.
The ornate cast iron end piece that attaches to the ceiling when hanging is marked 1869. No brand mark anywhere that I could find.
The condition of the globes is excellent. There are no holes or cracks or chips in the glass, just a few dust and dirt spots on the inside from storage. The cast iron chain has (typical) rust on it but overall looks fine. Can be cleaned up if you choose.
Each globe has the glass plug on the top. I was told that these globes could be filled with a colored dye and then displayed in the Drug Store so people could find the medicine.
Each globe fits into the brackets nicely. Just slide them in and they clip on pretty easily.
This measures roughly 30" in diameter of the globe at the widest part.
14" in height from top to bottom.
This will hang roughly 6 feet from where it attaches to the ceiling to the bottom of the globe.
These will be shipped with insurance and packaged very carefully.
